Limited Edition Seeds is those that have been produced especially for people. The term refers to the plant or flower, which is one of a kind and has limited quantities in existence. Limited Edition Seeds is not in abundance, hence the name Limited Edition. These seeds are used to mark a prestigious event such as an anniversary of some sort or a birthday.
The first Limited Edition seeds were introduced with the intention of increasing cannabis demand. After two years the product’s popularity increased and it was then decided to extend it to include feminized plants. The name itself indicates that this is a limited edition crop and is only available to people who have legal rights to cultivate it for commercial purposes. In Canada and most other countries, the plants are only available to legitimate growers. The limited edition seeds are not easy to find or grow and take many years before they yield fully.
When a limited edition crop is released, only a limited number of plants are made available for cultivation. As such the price for each plant goes up significantly and the cultivation period thus shortened. It is not possible for ordinary consumers to get hold of these feminized cannabis seeds as it is not considered a regular seed. Only professional growers are allowed to cultivate them legally.
Since the early 1990s it has been possible for consumers to purchase feminized cannabis seeds. These seeds were initially produced for medical purposes only and are not intended for general consumption. Since then however it has become much easier to acquire these feminized cannabis seeds as a result of increased demand for this high quality cannabis. Many stores that specialise in selling feminized cannabis seeds also sell regular seeds. It is therefore possible for regular cannabis users to obtain feminized cannabis seeds at a fraction of the cost.
Apart from using feminized seeds (females) to cultivate cannabis plants, some people also use feminized potpourri for scented oils. Many companies produce potpourri that contains mixtures of real flowers along with scent molecules that have been infused with the scent of the flowers. While most products available in stores use regular perfume oils in their blends, some companies specialise in producing scent oils using feminized cannabis. In many ways these products smell similar to flowers. However, the main difference is in the way they are used: instead of being sprayed directly on the flowers, they are diffused or poured into the potpourri.
Other products include oil extracts. Often these products are sold in limited quantities as they are not yet ready for flowering. Extracts can be used to flavour candles and lip balms; however, since they are not ready for use by the female plants, they do not contain any nutrients. The main ingredient in such a product is usually an astringent, which can work well on the buds but will have little or no effect on the flowers. This is a shame because it prevents consumers from making the most of their limited edition seeds (as mentioned above).
Some people who want to grow cannabis are happy with limited edition cannabis products, since these make it easier to maintain an indoor garden without needing to harvest or protect the plant from severe weather conditions. Some of these products also allow for greater control over the amount of water and nutrients contained within the flowers, allowing enthusiasts to keep growing marijuana even during periods when the weather is not conducive. These are often feminized so that even if the flowers are not ready for flowering, the potency remains, allowing enthusiasts to harvest and keep growing. The only drawback of these products is that it takes longer to harvest them compared to regular seeds, and the potency does not remain consistent.
Many people who are new to growing cannabis will find it helpful to purchase feminized seeds (Females that contain only a small number of regular seeds) in order to get started without having to struggle with growing a crop of compact buds, which are made up of numerous regular seeds. Many of these compact buds will have very little or no scent at all, making them less fragrant than feminized buds that contain a small amount of feminized pollen. For people who do prefer to cultivate a crop of flowering aprox, however, feminized seeds (which typically contain only one regular seed) are essential to ensure potency and quality.
